Barry Stein

Barry Stein, tenor, is a Philadelphia native and has been a soloist with numerous performing groups. Last season, he made his Arizona Opera debut as 3rd Jew in R. Strauss' Salome. He has appeared as Turiddu in Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana with Kitsap Opera. Barry also sang the voice for the Prince of Persia in Puccini's Turandot and the First Footman in Richard Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier with Seattle Opera. In Seattle Comic Opera's performances of Johann Strauss, Jr.’s Die Fledermaus, Mr. Stein was cast for the role of Eisenstein. Past appearances include the Evangelist in the world premiere of Huntley Beyer's The Saint Mark Passion with Orchestra Seattle / Seattle Chamber Singers and soloist in the Rachmaninoff Vespers with the Pacific Northwest Chamber Chorus. He was cast for the tenor role in Mahler's Symphony No. 8 with the Northwest Mahler Festival. Mr. Stein was a regular member of the Seattle Opera Chorus for seven years where he appeared in over 25 operas. Currently he is in his sixth season with the Arizona Opera Chorus and has performed in 18 productions. Barry has been a member of AGMA since 1994. His education includes a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from California State University Fullerton and a Master of Music in Choral Music Education from Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Arizona.
