Samantha Barnes

Ms. Barnes is originally from Orlando, Florida where she attended the University of Central Florida and performed with the Orlando Opera Company. She graduated from Northwestern University in 2009 with a Masters in Music. Northwestern credits include Mrs. Gobineau in Menotti’s The Medium; Magda in The Consul (Menotti); Achsah in Händel’s Joshua; soloist with the Northwestern University Baroque Music Ensemble, University Chorale and University Philharmonia, as well as winner of the 2008 Northwestern University Concerto & Aria Competition. Ms. Barnes won first place at the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions for the Central Regional Finals in 2008, and went on to the Semi-Finals in the same year. She is a prize winner from the American Opera Society of Chicago and the Bel Canto Foundation. Ms. Barnes was a Studio Artist at Chautauqua Opera in the summer of 2009, covering the role of Magda in their production of The Consul and recently made her European debut at the Duni Festival in Matera, Italy.
